- Overview
There are about 50000 wild Pumas with a natural distribution across the Americas.
In the state of California there are an estimated 4500 Pumas.
They are a keystone and a flagship species.
Pumas provide ecosystem services including maintenance of healthy prey populations and reduced deer-vehicle collisions.
Fun skills that may help you land field work with Pumas:- learn to: drive an ATV; change a car tyre; drive a car off-road; tree-climb; shoot and use chemical immobilisation; be a wilderness first-aider; get rabies-vaccinated; de-escalation techniques.

Beautiful animals, great interview as usual.
Thanks, Peter. I will be returning to raptors soon.
